Win-Loss-Win for the Jaguars

The Athens Drive varsity boys lacrosse team had a very busy week!

They played Sanderson on Monday, March 18th, beating the Spartans 23-1. Top scorers were Tyler Fields with 8 goals and an assist, and Jay Cohn with 4 goals and 6 assists. The following players who "took it to the rack" were: Caleb Deak and Wes Cohn (3 goals), Zander Adkins (2 goals and 1 assist), Brower Evenhouse (2 goals, 2 assists), Jack Danjcek (1 goal) and Harrison Baublitz (1 assist). Kali protected his goal, with 7 saves out of 8 shots for a 87.5% save advantage. AND in a fascinating bit of trivia: Liam Craig, Brower Evenhouse and Wes Cohn got a perfect 25 out of 25 at the faceoff dot (combined)!

The Jags then went up against the Green Level Gators on Wednesday, March 20th, in the One Love game. They may have lost 15-9, but they brought their A game. As parents we could be biased, but we believe the game would have been much closer if the referees knew what they were doing. Tyler Fields was on FIRE with 4 goals (and one very nice behind-the-back plus 6 ground balls). Jay Cohn brought it with a goal and 5 assists, and these 4 players made sure they put some numbers on the scoreboard with a goal each: Zander Adkins, Wes Cohn (also with 7 ground balls and 3 forced turnovers), Caleb Deak and Brower Evenhouse. Isaiah Beardsley had 4 ground balls and 3 forced turnovers, while Webb Linton snagged 5 ground balls and Trent Smith had forced 2 turnovers.

THEN they closed out the week playing the Enloe Eagles on Thurs, March 21, winning 12-4. Jay Cohn led scoring with 5 goals (and an assist), followed by Tyler Fields with 3 goals (and 2 assists), Caleb Deak with 2 goals, Jack Danjczek with a goal, Brower Evenhouse with a goal (and an assist), and Zander Adkins with 2 assists. Brower also had to step up to the dot because Liam Craig wasn't feeling well, going 53% at the faceoff line (he also had 10 ground balls). For forced turnovers, Jay Cohn, Wes Cohn and Isaiah Beardsley had 3, with Caleb Deak having 2. Kali continued to protect his goal, saving 67% of the shots that came at him. He also had a forced turnover!

While this week is the boys Spring Break, they will be taking on the Ashley Highschool "Screaming Eagles" on Monday, March 25th (and let's just say that their parents really lean into the "screaming" part). They will also take on the New Bern Highschool Bears on Tues, March 26th. They can then enjoy some of their Spring Break till practice on Fri the 29th and their game against the Apex Friendship Patriots at Barton College on Sat, March 30th.

What a way to close out a busy month! GO JAGUARS!
