Jags Advance with Strong Second Round Playoff Win

Final: Athens Drive 15, Wakefield 7

The Jaguars opened their playoff run in impressive fashion, taking down Wakefield 15–7 after earning a first-round bye. Athens came out sharp offensively and never let up, using balanced scoring, strong faceoff play, and steady defense to punch their ticket to the next round.

Jay Cohn and Bradyn Evans led the attack with 4 goals each. Cohn also added 3 assists, while Evans chipped in 2 assists in another explosive offensive showing. Harrison Baublitz continued his outstanding season with 2 goals and 4 assists, and in the process surpassed the 100-point mark for the season — an incredible milestone for the senior leader.

Hayes Clayton added 2 goals and 2 assists, Jack Danjczek contributed 1 goal and 2 assists, and both Justin Stanert and Liam Danjczek found the back of the net as well.

Athens controlled many of the hustle plays throughout the night. Tripp Burney led the ground ball effort with 6, while Jack Danjczek added 5. Reiter Healey and Greyson Deak each collected 4 ground balls apiece.

Defensively, the Jaguars stayed aggressive and active. Reiter Healey, Hayes Clayton, and Andrew Moore each caused 2 turnovers, helping keep Wakefield from building momentum. Sam Brewer was strong once again at the faceoff X, winning 12 draws at a 66.7% clip, while Michael Wirt added 3 faceoff wins of his own.

In goal, Gabe Sell came up big with 11 saves and a 61.1% save percentage. The senior goalie also reached another major career milestone, surpassing 250 career saves.

With the win, the Jaguars keep their season rolling and move one step closer to their playoff goals.
