May 11, 2026 – Loss vs. Broughton
Final: Broughton 15, Athens Drive 11
Athens Drive came out strong Monday night, building an early lead and matching Broughton stride for stride through three quarters before the Capitals pulled away late for a 15–11 win. The Jags led 4–2 after the opening quarter and stayed within striking distance throughout a physical, high-energy conference battle.
Jack Danjczek led the Athens offense with 5 goals, continuing his strong stretch of play around the crease. Jay Cohn added 2 goals and 2 assists, while Harrison Baublitz finished with 1 goal and 3 assists. Bradyn Evans contributed 1 goal and 2 assists, and both Ethan Klein and Michael Wirt found the back of the net. Hayes Clayton added an assist to round out the scoring effort.
The Jags once again battled hard in the hustle categories. Sam Brewer led the ground ball effort with 7, while Greyson Deak added 4. Tripp Burney, Reiter Healey, and Michael Wirt each collected 3 ground balls.
Defensively, Athens forced several key stops throughout the night. Gabe Sell, Bradyn Evans, Reiter Healey, Tripp Burney, and Jack Danjczek each caused a turnover, while Sell also turned aside 12 shots in goal to keep the Jags within reach.
At the faceoff X, the Jags were strong all night. Sam Brewer won 13 of 20 faceoffs for a 65% win rate, while Michael Wirt went 6 for 9, good for 66.7%, and added a goal in transition.
Despite the result, Athens showed plenty of fight against one of the area’s top programs and kept the rivalry competitive from start to finish.
