Late Rally Falls Short for Athens Drive in High-Scoring Lacrosse Duel Against 2024 State Champs Green Level
The Athens Drive Jaguars faced off against Green Level High School this past cold rainy Friday. Despite a series of standout performances, the Jaguars fell just short, marking a tough loss in a closely contested game.
Jay Cohn led the scoring efforts for Athens Drive, netting an impressive six goals and adding an assist, showcasing his prowess on the offensive end. The midfield was bolstered by Liam Craig, who dominated faceoffs, winning 22 of 24, translating to a 91.7% win rate. Craig’s efforts didn’t stop there; he also scooped up 19 ground balls.
Defensively, Reiter Healy made his presence known by causing three turnovers, while Greyson Deak added another two, putting pressure on Green Level's attackers. In goal, Brandon Patterson had a busy night with 13 saves, achieving a 52% save percentage amidst a barrage of shots.
Despite these successes, the Jaguars could not secure the victory.
