February 25, 2026 – Win at Cary High School
Final: Athens 21, Cary 1
The 33rd meeting between Athens and the Cary Imps belonged entirely to the Jags.
The Athens Drive Jags rolled into Cary under the lights and left no doubt—this was a full-team showcase. Nine different players found the back of the net and ten recorded points in a balanced offensive eruption that kept Cary scrambling from the opening whistle.
Jay Cohn was in full command mode, stacking up 5 goals and 8 assists in a clinic of vision, patience, and precision. Harrison Baublitz matched the scoring punch with 5 goals and an assist, while Justin Stanert buried 3 of his own. Bradyn Evans (2G, 1A), Liam Danjczek (2G), Jack Danjczek (1G, 2A), Ethan Klein (1G), Michael Wirt (1G), and Pierson Gard (1G) ensured the offense came in relentless waves. Hayes Clayton chipped in 2 assists to keep the ball humming.
At the X, Sam Brewer delivered a strong 8-for-12 performance (66.7%), setting the tone in the possession game.
Between the pipes, it was lights out. Brandon Patterson turned away 3 of 4 shots (75%), and Gabe Sell slammed the door in the second half with 3 saves and a flawless 100% save rate.
Tripp Burney was everywhere defensively, leading the squad with 7 ground balls and 4 caused turnovers. Baublitz scooped up 5 ground balls, while Cohn, Klein, and Wirt added 4 each. Reiter Healey and Klein joined Cohn with multiple forced turnovers, fueling transition opportunities all night.
Next up: a road test at Willow Spring High School on March 3, followed by another away matchup at Apex High School on March 6. If this opener was any indication, the Jags are just getting started.
