A Special Senior Night for the Jags

Senior Night always carries a different kind of energy, and this one felt special from the start.

Athens Drive honored a large senior class, and fittingly, it was a night where so many of them found a way to leave their mark. The Jags came away with a 22–0 win over Rolesville, but the score only tells part of the story.

Jay Cohn (5 goals, 4 assists) and Jack Danjczek (3 goals, 5 assists) helped guide the offense early, with Harrison Baublitz (1 goal, 3 assists) and Bradyn Evans (4 assists) keeping things flowing. But as the game opened up, it turned into a true Senior Night with contributions and memories coming from seniors all across the field.

Gabe Sell, who has spent his career in goal, stepped onto the field and scored twice, his first varsity goals. Andrew Moore added two goals of his own, and a long list of seniors followed with milestones: Colt Jackson (1 goal, 1 assist), Colin Murray (1 goal), Danny Gelsinger (1 goal), Max Schmidt (1 goal), and Brandon Patterson (1 goal) all recorded their first varsity goals. You could feel the sideline and the crowd rise with each one.

Michael Wirt (2 goals), Tripp Burney (1 goal, 1 assist), and Hayes Clayton (1 goal) added to a night where contributions came from everywhere, and from players who have put in years of work behind the scenes.

The effort matched the moment. Burney led the way with 12 ground balls, Moore had 11, and Sam Brewer added 10. Moore also paced the defense with 4 caused turnovers, while Murray and Jackson each had 3, fitting for a group that has built its identity on doing the little things well.

At the faceoff X, Wirt and Brewer kept possession steady all night, and in goal, Patterson and Dylan Dossary combined for the shutout.

More than anything, this was a night to appreciate the seniors who have led, grown, and helped shape this team over the years.
