Jags End 2024 Season Against the Huskies

The Athens Drive Jaguars had a phenomenal 2024 Spring season, making it all the way to the 3rd round of the North Carolina state playoffs. The last time they played the Heritage Huskies was on April 4th, losing to the higher-ranked team by 2 points. The May 7th game against them was no less intense, resulting in an overtime win for Heritage (Athens - 8, Heritage - 9).

Brower Evenhouse, Zander Adkins and Jack Dancjek scored 2 goals each. Harrison Baublitz and Wes Cohn each scored a goal, and Tyler Fields had 4 assists.

The Jags have done an amazing job adjusting to the various challenges that have been thrown their way this season, with traditionally offensive players being on defense -- and vice versa. In addition to his goal, Wes had 4 caused turnovers. He ended the season -- and his highschool lacrosse career -- with 503 ground balls, breaking a school record! Tyler, Brower and Jack also had 4 ground balls each.

Liam Craig went 17 out of 19 at the faceoff dot for an 89.5% win percentage. He also had 14 ground balls. Liam had set the school record for face-off wins in 2023, and then surpassed that milestone again this season! Goalkeeper Cali was able to save 10 shots for a 52.6% save percentage. He finished out his last season of highschool lacrosse by setting new school records for a single season and the total number of career saves.

It's never easy to lose but the Jags have always shown grace under pressure and incredible resilience when the going has gotten tough. They created connections with each other that will last well past high school. Tyler, Wes and Cali ended their high school lacrosse careers reaching -- and surpassing -- incredible milestones.

Congratulations to the entire varsity Jaguar team (and coaches)! To our graduating seniors -- best of luck with your next adventures and please come back to visit.

To all the parents -- thank you for raising such amazing young men and encouraging their interest in lacrosse. And thank you for all of the volunteer support. It really has a positive impact on the team when parents are able to get involved and help out. The Jaguars' families brought some great energy to the games this season.

Keep it up, Jags! We're all so very proud of you!

We will close out the 2024 season with an end of year banquet on Monday, May 20th at Ritter Park in Cary starting at 5:30 p.m.
