Jaguars Edge Out Cougars in Nail-biting Game

Updated: Mar 18

The Athens Drive varsity boys lacrosse team took on Apex Highschool on March 12. It was anybody's game, with the Cougars starting off strong and keeping the Jaguars on their toes.

The Jags ultimately beat the Cougars, 14-11, with Tyler Fields leading the way with 6 goals and 2 assists. This game enabled him to reach a major milestone of 100 goals so far in his lacrosse career. Congratulations, Tyler!

Other goal scorers were Caleb Deak (4), Jay Cohn (2 with 2 assists), Harrison Baublitz (1) and Jack Thompson (1). Brower Evenhouse kept the pressure on with 2 assists.

Kali McKinnis-Castille stayed strong in goal, with Brandon Patterson stepping in to help protect the net when needed. Liam Craig fought hard at the face-off, digging in and securing the ball at the dot.

It was a very strong team effort across the board and an exciting game to watch (thanks to all the parents who were able to make it to cheer them on)!

Recap for the March 14 game against Cardinal Gibbons will come soon. Next week the Jags are going to be busy with 3 games on the schedule (weather-dependent, of course): Mon, 3/18 against the Sanderson Spartans; Weds, 3/20 against the Green Level Gators; and Thurs, 3/21 against the Enloe Eagles. (Sanderson and Enloe are conference games)

Keep working hard, Jags!
