The Jaguars started the week strong, with a 13-8 win over the Leesville Lions on Monday night, April 1 (insert relevant April Fools Day joke).
Tyler Fields "owned the field" with 5 goals and 1 assist. Jay Cohn kept up the offense with 3 goals and 5 assists, while Caleb Deak had 2 goals, Zander Adkins had 1 goal (and 2 assists), Brower Evenhouse had 1 goal (and 1 assist) and Jack Dancjzek had 1 goal. On defense, Wes Cohn had 6 ground balls and 4 caused turnovers. Cali had 11 saves for a 57.9% save rate, as well as 4 ground balls. (If you didn't know, "winning a groundball can be a small victory because they help redirect the energy of a game").
On Thursday, April 4th, the Jags took on the Heritage Huskies. It was another nail-biter of a game, but the Huskies took it, 14-12. Jay Cohn locked in 4 goals and 4 assists, with Zander Adkins bringing in 2 goals and 2 assists, Caleb Deak and Brower Evenhouse had 2 goals each, Jack Dancjzek had a goal and Tyler Fields had a goal (and an assist).
Liam Craig was on point for the faceoffs, going 29 out of 30 at the dot for a 96.7% win percentage (can you say impressive?!). He also had 14 groundballs and helped the Jags gain possession most of the game. Wes Cohn had 5 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers, while Webb Linton had 3 ground balls and a caused turnover.
On Tuesday the 9th, the Jags will have their first game against the Broughton Capitals, and on Friday the 12th they'll be versing Sanderson Spartans again (both are conference games). Keep on it, Jags!
